My Kind of Book is a new social enterprise promoting books and sensory storytelling for children with additional needs.
I’ve worked with founder, Ailie Finlay, since My Kind of Book was a twinkle. Early on I set up a WordPress.com blog where Ailie posted sensory storytelling ideas and recommendations for good books.
As plans for the business developed, I worked on the design and build of a new site based on an accessible WordPress theme, incorporating and developing the new branding and specially commissioned illustrations. This was ‘soft’ launched with a donations page, while ideas for the online shop were developed.
The book shop is now open where site visitors can buy recommended books, download free sensory stories and sign-up to an e-newsletter for offers, news and resources.
This has been a wonderfully collaborative and organic project. Along with website design consultation, I’ve provided support on web-friendly content, improving findability using categories and tags, creating accessible PDFs and privacy good practice.
Working with Alison from Stuff and Content is always a completely positive experience. During the process of developing my new website and online shop Alison always listened to me really carefully and took care to make sure she understood exactly what I was wanting.
She is calm, quick and efficient. She is also highly skilled and I am really delighted with the work she has done for me – she always gets content exactly right and the design of my new website and shop matches my vision in every way.
